The Pros:

  • Affordable.
  • Has the right consistency. It’s not too runny nor too thick.
  • Application is a breeze. The consistency makes it easy to spread into the skin.
  • Easily absorbed by the skin. I am surprised by how easy these sun protection products from Hortaleza MD are absorbed into my skin.
  • Does not feel sticky.
  • Feels light on the skin.
  • It does its job pretty well. I can attest to that because we did an almost 2hr boat ride during our recent beach trip to Nasugbu, Batangas and I didn’t get a single sunburn. Yes, not a single sunburn.
  • Locally available.

The Cons:

  • I honestly can’t think of anything. I love everything about these products!

hortaleza sunscreen reviewhortaleza m.d. sunblock reviewThese Hortaleza Sunscreen products are the proof that even affordable products can do their job just as well as highend and more expensive items. Sometimes, they even work better! Ugh, I’ve tried expensive sunscreens before which feels very tacky and heavy on the skin. On top of that, this expensive sunscreen didn’t work well as I ended up having sunburns.

hortaleza sunblock reviewWould I recommend this Hortaleza Sunblock? Yes, definitely! It works really well, it’s affordable, it’s locally available. I’d say this is a must-have! Even on regular days, you could definitely use this too because it won’t give you that tacky and heavy feeling on your skin. It’s okay to use this everyday!

Protect your skin from the harmful rays, sun damage is no joke.

Its nice to know we have already an affordable version of sunblock. Is this available in any local drugstores, too? I will look for this sunblock since i might need this coming days for my cycling session. However, how long does it take on the skin to protect from the sun? How long you should re-apply it on your skin? Can’t wait to try this one. Thanks and more power to you.

Wow, I haven’t heard about this product yet and this is sound interesting. Its actually very timely since summer is on everyone’s doorway. I usually apply sun block whenever I climb mountains or go to the beach. Very well written review and your review convince me to try this product. Thank you so much for sharing!

Wait. You didnt mention How much is it? Been looking for an alternative to my sunblock which has run out of stock for a time now… Is this available at watsons?

    • April 26, 2017 / 4:02 pm

Yes please! Also, is it ok for the face too? or is it only for body wear? 🙂

Whenever I see sunscreen / sunblock containers [even in photos] memories of working for a swim school one summer flashes back to me. And I think I can smell it right now even if I’m not close to any of those products. Having said that, YES I totally agree that most of these products are way too expensive but not effective. I will surely try one of these. Where to buy though? Thanks.

I am not a fan of sticky sunblock either. It’s nice to know that we have a cheap and effective local option for good sunblocks. Really helpful and timely as it’s summer and really really hot here in the country (huhu!). Even just going out for errands warrants a nice thick coat of sunblock if you don’t wanna get burned. What more when you go to the beach, right? How much are they, by the way?

  6. April 18, 2017 / 7:50 pm

I am not much of a fan when it comes to sunblock because I tend to really be lazy when it comes to applying things to myself or following a regimen. I sometimes force myself to stick to it and *poof* after a week or two. But, looking at it, it really must be reliable and affordable as to the other products in the market. But what’s really the difference between suncreen and sunblock?

  7. April 18, 2017 / 8:19 pm

I currently use the Biore Aqua Rich Watery Essence Sun Gel but I find the quantity is by far too small for the volumes that we use it in sunny Australia. What I love about the sun cream that you’ve mentioned is that it comes in various sizes! It’s also really challenging to find something that doesn’t leave an oily residue and that absorbs quickly, it sounds like a match made in heaven!

Do you know if this brand ships internationally? 🙂

    Keep up the amazing work!

I haven’t heard about the product, I need to search for this, in department stores, I hope it’s available, I would love to try, you mention that it’s not sticky, so this one will serve ms well

  9. April 19, 2017 / 1:49 am

Wait, I’m on the way to buy na. Lol, kidding! But seriously, I’ve been really burnt for the past weeks – literally. I’ve become too dark and I really, really need to protect my skin. Thank you so much for this! Where can I buy this, exactly?

We have a terrible weather here in Delhi these days. Temperature is around 42 degrees and I am sure sun blocks will be needed. I personally use a sunglasses and a wide hat to protect my face from sun burns. I shall surely share this post with my wife and daughter for remedial measures.

Hmmm, interesting, though. I have been seeing different brands of sunblock today and I can really say, it is an essential piece for all most especially this season. I wonder who much does it cost? Is it available now in leading stores nationwide? This could be a perfect stuff that I can certainly use for my next trip!

  12. April 21, 2017 / 1:27 pm

I am very particular in using sunblock that is not sticky on my skin. Most of them are like that, right? If Hortaleza MD is not like that, it is just in time because series of family and company outings are approaching. Thank you for sharing this with us.

sounds promising however I cannot be separated from my Bior UV Aqua Rich Watery Gel spf, its the best and most reasonably priced for me since its a clear gel and it feels so light and cooling for my skin.

I remember when I was little and how much I HATED having sunscreen on – how things have changed! I love that these absorb quickly as I hate feeling sticky!

I love that sun lotions are now in discussion now that warmer weather is arriving! The affordability of this product sounds great, as we all have a tendency to slap on tons and tons of sun lotion, right?! 🙂

  17. April 27, 2017 / 2:46 am

These sound so good, especially as you can’t think of any cons to counteract your huge pros list, it’ll be time for me to start slathering on the sunblock soon.

Sunblocks are my holy grail, I need them especially with the Philippines’ weather. I find it hard to look for a sunblock that is sweat proof and non-sticky because I use it to put makeup over it. I will definitely try this product out and see for myself if it’s a good one 🙂
