Sleek Makeup Base Duo Kit Review

Sleek Makeup Base Duo Kit

I promised to do a detailed review of the items that I got during my last Luxola SG haul so here goes the first item that I tried from the haul. 🙂 It’s the Sleek Makeup Base Duo Kit.

favorite sleek makeup

The first time a held this, I fell inlove with the packaging. It is matte and has a velvety finish same with the packaging of Nars palettes. It is also quite heavy but I didn’t mind since I’m getting a cream foundation and a setting powder in one compact. Because it’s heavy I expected it to be sturdy but boy was I wrong. The packaging is flimsy and it cracked and I don’t how the hell it cracked when I haven’t even dropped it. 🙁 I hope I only got a bad batch since I want to try out more Sleek products.

I didn’t really think I’ll be able to wear this since I got a shade that’s a bit darker for me that time but since I got a few shades darker after our Pangasinan trip. I was able to use it and finally do a review.

sleek foundation review

The Sleek makeup base duo kit is a 2-layer base kit which makes it perfect to bring along with you on a daily basis since it’s compact and saves space on your makeup kit. If mine doesn’t crack, I’m pretty sure It’ll be a mainstay in my makeup kit. It also has a right-sized mirror in each layer.
sleek cream foundation review
The cream foundation in the shade Latte  has a strong warm undertone at first but blends well with the skin. I only used a damp makeup sponge in applying it and it provides light to medium coverage. If you want more coverage, you can layer it up and it will still blend out seamlessly. It won’t cake up. I promise!

The cream foundation alone offers a dewy finish. Anyways, will update this post once I’ve tried applying it with a brush to see if it will yield different results.

sleek setting powder review
Hands down this is the best setting powder I’ve tried up to date. It sets the cream foundation to a completely matte finish and it definitely helps in prolonging the staying power of the foundation. It keeps the oil at bay too for a good four hours. You can use this for touch ups too and it won’t cake up your foundation. I. LOVE. THIS. It’s not translucent though but I’m more than willing to look past that.

The staying power is superb. I have oily skin and I only start to get oily after 4 hours. Thanks to the setting powder! The cream foundation doesn’t slide off your skin and it doesn’t transfer too. If you have dry and normal skin, I’m pretty sure it can last you a whole day with a minimal need for touch ups.

foundation for those with yellow undertones

Overall I love this Sleek Makeup Base Duo kit. I’m actually considering of ordering another one so I can bring it with me on my makeup bag. It’s the only foundation that matches my skin tone right now anyways.

Have you tried any Sleek products? What are your favorites?

I haven't tried any Sleek products, but this one looks great (both the packaging and the actual product haha). I think it's so cool it has a cream foundation AND a setting powder in one – perfect for travelling! Not that I travel a lot, but I can see this coming in handy a lot. Too bad it cracked, but I'm still going to check this out – thanks for sharing 🙂

This brand seems to be getting a lot of positive press lately, I may well give them a go soon! I'm sorry to hear one of your palettes cracked though, what a pity!

I have stashed it in my drawer now that it's horribly hot. Will use it again in the colder months. 🙂
