Why You Need to Love Yourself First

love yourself first
Some may laugh at the title of this post and they might say, everyone loves themselves. Is there even a thing where someone doesn’t love themselves? Well, sorry to break it up to you but yes there is such a thing. It’s actually a very common thing which usually go unnoticed. Guys, it’s very important that you love yourself first.

Let me tell you a story, these set of photos were taken a year back and why am I only publishing this now? Because I don’t love myself enough back then. I just don’t think these photos are good enough for the judgmental society to see. But is the society really the culprit? I think not. I think most of the time we are the one who is being harsh to ourselves thinking that we are not good enough.

That’s where your love for yourself should prevail, accept who you are. Love all your flaws and imperfections. Know that you’ll never be perfect and always have the courage to stand up for yourself. Why? Because no one will stand up for you. In this cruel world, all you really have is YOU.
And to be honest, you won’t really see how much someone loves and values you unless you love yourself first and you know that you’re worth every bit of love they are giving you. You will never feel secured in anyone’s love until you have loved yourself fully.
If you’ll ask me now if I love myself fully, I’d be lying if I say yes because the truth is I still doubt myself sometimes. However, I can say that I love myself now more than before. I am learning that I can never please anybody and I’m slowly letting go of my insecurities. It feels awesome.
Can I ask you something? Do you love yourself? Or are you depriving yourself with the love you deserve because you’re too busy loving someone else?

Yes, everyone loves themselves. However, not everyone loves themselves first. That’s two different things. The fact is most of us tend to love the other more than ourselves. It can be good to the other party but not all the time. It’s loving ourselves that we will appreciate the love others are giving. And loving ourselves first usually means accepting who we are and who we are not.
