Maybelline Clear Smooth Extra Shine Free Powder Foundation Review

I don’t usually use foundations to be honest because I have like the most confusing skin ever, one day my skin is too oily, the other day it’ll be dry as the Sahara Dessert. So I tend to change foundations every once in a while because of my skin’s mood swings. Haha! When I saw this Maybelline Clear Smooth Extra Shine Free Powder Foundation, I picked it up right away for my oily skin days. My skin is oily most of the time anyways.

And also, the one thing that urged me to get this Maybelline Clear Smooth Extra Shine Free Powder Foundation is its packaging. It’s so cute in pastel blue. 😛
Maybelline Clear Smooth Extra Shine Free Powder Foundation Pros :
  • The shade Honey suits my skin tone really well.
  • I stay shine free for most of the day, though I little bit of shine can be seen on my t-zone.
  • It gives medium to full coverage when I use a sponge to apply it. When applied with a brush, it will only yield light to medium coverage.
  • It covers imperfections really well especially my dark circles! 🙂
  • The use of concealer is minimized when you use this foundation.
  • It doesn’t clog my pores and I didn’t breakout at all.
  • The packaging is thin and doesn’t consume a lot of space in my makeup bag. It looks nice and doesn’t feel cheap at all.
  • It has SPF 20 🙂
  • Affordable, it only costs 250php.

Maybelline Clear Smooth Extra Shine Free Powder Foundation Cons :
  • It tends to get cakey if you apply too much.
  • It will settle on your fine lines if you apply too much.
  • It looks awful on flash photography because of the SPF.
Here’s how my skin looks like with the Maybelline Clear Smooth Extra Shine Free Powder Foundation on.

Verdict :
Overall, I think the Maybelline Clear Smooth Extra Shine Free Powder Foundation is a great foundation and it works well on me during my ohh-so-oily days. And I will definitely repurchase it, that’s for sure!
Quick Tip :
Be careful not too apply too much because that’s when you’ll have problems with Maybelline Clear Smooth Extra Shine Free Powder Foundation. Always remember, less is more. So when you feel like you’re starting to get oily, blot instead of reapplying foundation. And be sure not to wear this foundation when you know you” be photographed with flash because it will give you a white cast. You don’t want that to happen, do you?
That’s all for now, hope you find this review helpful! Let me know your thoughts on the comment section below <3

your face looks really flawless in the photo. 🙂 Maybelline was my first foundation when I started dabbling in makeup. They're quite good yet very affordable 🙂

I've never tried a powder foundation before except the Laura Mercier mineral powder, but this seems like a great affordable option! It seems like it'd be brilliant if you were having more of an oily skin day, my skin is combination and I usually adjust my makeup on different days depending on how it is. P.S. your top is super pretty!

Thank you Meg! 🙂 Anyways, I have never tried Laura Mercier before. They're quite pricey for my budget. Haha!

Hi! Are you supposed to wet the sponge when you apply this foundation, or any powder foundation for that matter? Thanks! Hope u could reply. Makeup newbie here. Kinda confused. Please help! 🙂

If it's a cake foundation then you are supposed to wet the sponge. With this one, I didn't wet the sponge and applied it as ease. When I'm on a hurry, I just use a fluffy powder brush. 🙂
