Next stop after the ATV Ride? The infamous Chocolate Hills! It is what makes Bohol popular and it’s pretty much the highlight of our Bohol Countryside Tour.
Before you can savor this breathtaking view of the Chocolate Hills, you have to climb up 214 steps to the view deck. You can’t take long breaks in between steps because the stairs are pretty narrow. There’s one line to the steps going up and another one going down so if you were to take breaks, you will most likely bother other tourists. I have sedentary lifestyle so my knees were killing me halfway up. Haha!
The Chocolate Hills:
According to my history teacher in fifth grade, it’s called Chocolate Hills because the grass that covers it turns brown during drier months. It makes the hills look like chocolate. It is composed of over a thousand hills spread over a 20 square mile area.
There really isn’t much thing to do aside from stare and savor the beauty of the Hills. Take lots of photos and enjoy the cool breeze in the viewing deck.
Ending this post with a selfie, the beautiful Chocolate Hills behind me. I took lots of selfies with Earvin but only sharing one with you. Haha! I don’t want to irritate you with our faces. Sometimes, I just can’t help but be in awe of nature.
Oo that’s so nice! I love the name it was given, there’s something so outstanding about this view and magnificent! I’ve never travelled to Philippines, but it’s sure is on my bucket list, and I can’t wait to book a ticket for there, and be able to enjoy Cebu and Bohol!

Visiting the Chocolate Hills is included in my bucket list. When I was in grade one, I loved to draw the Chocolate Hills. On my innocent mind, I really thought I could eat it. Haha! I did not know the real reason why it is called Chocolate Hills until I read your post about it. Everything is crystal clear now. 🙂
Absolutely stunning – and I’m sure the pictures don’t do it justice! Thanks for sharing this beautiful scenery with us!
