Sleek Matte Me in Birthday Suit Review + Swatch

June 6, 2016
sleek matte me in birthday suitI have been looking for the perfect nude shade that will suit me ever since I started blogging but it’s been years of looking with no luck up until a few weeks ago. The nude shades that I got before were always too pale for my morena skintone and they always just washes out the life on my face and make me look sick. Sometimes, it will look like I have applied concealer on my lips! And finally, I found the perfect nude kipstick for me so I’m sharing it with you guys! Here’s Sleek Matte Me in Birthday Suit Review + Swatch!

sleek birthday suitsleek matte meI am supposed to get Colourpop’s Echo Park to be honest but the seller sent the wrong shade. Yes, I kinda felt sad ’cause I really want a nude lipstick for summer. As i’ve said, colourpop ultra mattes can be drying so instead of ordering Echo Park again, I just ordered the Sleek Matte Me in Birthday Suit at Zalora since I’ve read from my friend’s blog, Maria Hazel, that Sleek Matte Me in Birthday Suit looks good on any skin tone.

And I am SO glad I ordered the Sleek Matte Me in Birthday suit. Upon application it looks too pale for me but when it dries out, it kinda blends out with my skintone. I love it! The consistency is quite runny and you need to layer it up to achieve an opaque finish.

The Sleek Matte Me in Birthday suit isn’t as drying as the colourpop ultra mattes. However, isn’t as long lasting and as pigmented either. Well, I am not sure if it’s just because I got a nude shade but we’ll see once I get my hands on other shades if the reds are pigmented. To be honest, I don’t mind that it wears off after eating an oily meal ’cause it doesn’t stain my lips. It only makes re-applying is such a breeze.

As you can see, the Sleek Matte Me in Birthday suit dries completely matte. However, it does not dry out nor crack my lips. It is not patchy or streaky either. It doesn’t yield a tacky feeling on the lips, it actually feels like almost velvety when completely dried out. 🙂

I've been seeing them around a lot, however I haven't given it a try yet. Complete matte and not drying, these are so tempting, also birthday suit is a gorgeous nude!

I tend to steer clear of matte lipsticks because they tend to be drying but this one looks good! A nude lip is my go-to shade, I only wear a bright lipstick when I'm going out to a party.

Of all the matte drying lipsticks I've tried, this is the most forgiving. You should try it out! 🙂

That color looks gorgeous on you! I have never heard of Echo Park. May need to check it out now. I love ColourPop. I wish Sleek was more accessible in the U.S.

Oh. It's not that accessible in US? That's such a bummer! I prefer their formulation better than Colourpop to be honest 🙂

I've been trying to try this product out. Was it worth it? Does it have a light feel? Because some matte lipsticks are so velvety and so heavy. 🙁 Also, does it transfer through spoon straw and etc. while eating? Sorry too many questions hehe. Love your blog!

Birthday Suit, Fired up and Velvet Slipper are some of my favorites in their collection!!

I haven't tried matte in liquid form but among the reviews I have read, this is so far the lip cream I can certainly agree that gives perfect matte effect! Just wondering if how much does it cost?

I'm not very familiar with this product but I must say, that color really suits you. That color, your skin and your lips compliment each other.

I like the nude color of the birthday me shade. I am thinking of getting from Sleek too but I still have a pending review on most of my lipstick. I remember I haven't swatch all the Kissproof shades I have for review so I think I need to finish it first before getting this. I might get the same shade or thinking of getting Colourpop. I'm actually torn between those two.

The shade looks great on you. Unfortunately can't do nude lipstick, I look like a sick girl when I wear such.

  • Reply Joanna August 4, 2016 at 4:48 am

Even if on the skin it looks pinky, I see that on the lips is very nude actually, which is perfect. I like the creamy texture and the fact that it actually dries up as matte. I like both matte and glossy, I suppose it depends on the occasion.

I've been hearing a lot of good comments about this Sleek brand lately and I really wanna try it out. I'm not really big on make up and all that shizz but lately, I found myself hoarding lippies from drugstores and Watsons (because I know nothing about what brands to buy haha) and yeaaa… I feel like I'm getting used to it finally. xD

Ooohhhh~ matte lipstick! I've been looking to replace the one I've been using since 2015. I love the color though I'd prefer it to be lighter like blush nude pink. (If that even makes any sense LOL) Hope they have this brand at Mall of Asia or in SM Aura. 🙂
